The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic shares an island in the Caribbean with the country of Haiti.  the DR is about one-third of the size of North Carolina and the population is roughly ten million.  Santo Domingo, the capital, is the oldest European settlement in the western hemisphere and it dates back to 1496, just four years after Columbus’ first voyage to the Americas.  Surveys record that the country is 95%  Catholic which is often layered with Mysticism and voodoo.

ZMI Family Ministries International’s presence:  Lilliana Llambes, a Southern Baptist missionary, organized a national conference to introduce Living in a Zoo Bible study (recently re-titled “Taking Back the Family”).  The groups are multiplying even though the Llambes are relocating to Mexico city.   Lilliana is taking the Zoo with her!
