FOR THE SAKE OF THE CALL: AMERICA IS A MISSION FIELD

Jesus is calling us…issuing a special invitation. Will you accept?

AMERICA IS A MISSION FIELD

“Faithful is He who calls you and He will do it!”

I Thessalonians 5:24, NLT

When the Lord called me to this ministry, I never dreamed I’d go on mission into the countries of South and Central America, or to the Dominican Republic. When I heard His call to write and teach, I distinctly thought it was a call to the American home. Then Pastor Roberto asked if he could translate it into Portuguese and invited us to Brazil to teach and train their workers to use it. Afterwards, on the way home, I sat in shock praying, “Lord, I thought you sent me to the American home.”

“I didn’t say that – you said that,” the Lord whispered in my ear.

Then my mind drifted back to a time two years earlier when I had been traveling and speaking at event after event. Most groups seemed to be more interested in being entertained than in reaching the lost or teaching women the truths of God’s Word. Our focus as a ministry is to train and teach women Biblical truths that will help them keep their marriages and homes together and to partner with them for the long haul.

One day – on the day of my granddaughter’s birthday party with her little friends, I was on my way home from such a meeting thinking how I had missed her party for a group of women who had no interest whatsoever in practicing or teaching God’s plan for women and their families. In desperation, I cried out, “Lord, please spare me from this! Please send me to ‘where the fields are white!’”

From that day on, I never received another invitation for that type of speaking event. That is significant because in the beginning I promised the Lord I would never turn down an invitation unless the date was already booked. Within the year, the Lord had us in Brazil for the first time, where over 200 accepted Christ, and that was just the beginning. From the northern most point of Brazil to the south, marriages are being restored. Women and many of their husbands are coming to Christ.

He sent us to Nicaragua five times, where the message is spreading like wildfire. It moved into Costa Rica from there, and into Honduras where it is also multiplying like crazy. The Dominican is spreading the message. China, Mexico City, and Cuba are waiting in the wings. This is a testimony of what God will do when very ordinary people cry out for Him to send us to the harvest!

But my friend, the fields are white in America too. We are desperate for the hope and help for our families, too. Marriages are breaking up, and many are losing their kids. If we join together just as our sisters across the water, we can take back our families for Christ too!

Join us! Email me and join other women as we take a stand and move out on mission right here in our own backyard!

Until next time,

FOR THE SAKE OF THE CALL: INTRODUCTIONS ARE IMPORTANT

Jesus is calling us…issuing a special invitation. Will you accept?

INTRODUCTIONS ARE IMPORTANT

“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:35-38, NLT

Have you looked around lately? Our world is in a lot of turmoil, and people are crying out for answers. Our verse lets us know that Jesus is filled with compassion on those who are weary and suffering and needing help and hope from a Leader who can make a difference. When He said the fields are white, he meant the weary ones are ready for that Leader.

They just need someone to be willing to introduce them to Him. A simple introduction is sometimes all a person needs to find what they are looking for.

I remember when I first met my husband Tom. I was the new girl in school, and a new friend was walking around with me, introducing me to new people. Earlier in the evening, I spotted Tom on the basketball court as the players ran onto the floor. I knew who he was but didn’t think he knew who I was…and I badly wanted him to know! As we walked around the gym after the game, there he was. “Tommy, this is Brenda. Brenda, this is Tommy.”

That introduction began a relationship that has lasted a lifetime. It has brought love, joy, three sons, three daughters (in-law if I must say) and six awesome grandchildren. As I write this I’m about to leave for a football game that our oldest grandson, Trey, will play in tonight. Joy. Pure joy is what these grandchildren are. I would never have known such joy if that first introduction had not taken place.

It took that friend about 20 seconds to introduce us – 20 seconds that changed our lives forever.

Your friends and family are in need of an introduction to the One who can change their lives, as are many others all across our world. They are desperate for an introduction. Are you willing to be one who will simply say,” Marge, this is Jesus”…He already knows who you are.”

Join us on mission in 2015! We’d love to have you!

FOR THE SAKE OF THE CALL: GOD WANTS YOU!

Jesus is calling us…issuing a special invitation. Will you accept?

GOD WANTS YOU!

“Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:37-38, NLT

Yep. Look around. The spiritual fields are indeed ready for harvest. Multitudes are weary of living with no recognized purpose. They’re desperate for hope and are willing to listen to anyone who offers it. But few workers are willing to accept the call. Why? Because it’s hard work.

When I was a little girl, I remember seeing posters of Uncle Sam in his red, white, and blue uniform. Under the angry face, with finger pointing straight at me, the caption read, “Uncle Sam Wants You!” I just wanted to run away from him as fast as I could. His scornful face did not convey the purpose behind his call to service. God is calling out to us. “I WANT YOU to be my hands and feet in a lost world!”  Instead of asking in anger, He whispers to our hearts and pleads with us to see the needs of those around us.

He knows accepting the call is hard. He knows our fears, and doubts, yet He calls us – anyway. He knows our weaknesses and even incompetence, yet He promises to use us if we will step out in faith – anyway. He knows we don’t have what we need, yet promises to equip us for the job – anyway.

Several months ago, we were on a road trip. In the quietness of the car, I mentally planned our next trip to Nicaragua, and I was worried. “Lord”, I prayed, “I know you are telling us to go, but why haven’t you sent the finances? We just got back from three mission trips, and you know we don’t have the money to even finish the Youth Building in the village of Solidaridad, much less having funds for more books and plane tickets. Please send the finances we need for the next mission.”

This wasn’t the first time I’d reminded the Lord about our need. I guess He got tired of the whining, because I very distinctly heard in my heart, “The fields are white unto harvest. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to send workers for the harvest.”  That was quickly followed by, “I never told you to pray for money for the harvest; I told you to pray for the WORKERS for the harvest.”

Oh. OK.  “Lord, would you please send the workers for the harvest?”

We need workers who are prayer warriors to go before us in prayer, as our front line of defense. We need workers to travel to the foreign field with us. We need writers and proofreaders – computer and tech savvy workers to help us raise awareness about the mission to teach women to Take Back their Families. And we need workers with the gift of giving, to help support our missionaries on the ground in Central and South America. Because givers are workers too.

Pray. Go. Give. Three ways to go on mission with us in 2015 and fulfill the great commission. Won’t you join us? Visit our “Virtual Missions Page” to see how.
